"Space Jam" Gets The "Avengers: Infinity War" Trailer Treatment

So last night I was on the Twitter machine, all of the Tournament games had ended, I was rewatching season one of Banshee for like the fifth time and I came across this Toy Story/Avengers mashup trailer.

Absolute flames. That Marvel score could make anything seem dramatic and make me run head first through a titanium wall. I don’t even know why someone would have a titanium wall but you better believe I’d run through one if that music was playing while I happened to stroll by. As one of Barstool’s preeminent social media guys it became abundantly clear that these parodies are about to be the new hotness in the streets for the next week or so, which means they have about two-three more days until they feel incredibly forced and are no longer gold. So it was time to strike while the iron was hot and chop this up real quick. And by “real quick” I mean it took about two hours because I’m super bad at video editing.

But if you think about, there are parallels galore between Space Jam and Infinity War. First and foremost: space. Neither are possible without space. From there, elite units are brought together in order to save a world from an alien captor with unthinkable powers. The Nerdlucks stripping Patrick Ewing’s basketball playing ability and Thanos ripping the mind stone out of Vision’s forehead are nearly shot for shot identical. Both movies have a ton of gun play, and Newman is as helpful in this game as Hawkeye is going to be going up against an intergalactic God. The more I think about it, I don’t even know why I need to see Infinity War when Warner Brothers already took care of this 20 years ago.
