I Tried To Play Defense On NLL MVP And Best Lacrosse Player In The World Lyle Thompson. It Didn't Go Too Well

So the other weekend I took a trip up to Onondaga Nation to play in the Lax All Stars North American Invitational box lacrosse tournament. Some of the best box lax players in the world were there to play. Lyle Thompson, Miles Thompson, all of the Thompson’s, Blaze Riorden, Bill O’Brien, Austin Staats, etc. So naturally I fit right in.

We’ll have more footage from the weekend later on this week and/or next week. But while I was at the birthplace of lacrosse and Lyle’s homeland, I thought it would make sense to take him on 1v1. Just to see where I compare to the current NLL champion and MVP. It wasn’t pretty.

For starters, I’ve played offense my whole life so I wasn’t exactly expecting to shut him out. Since this was Lyle’s home field I figured I’d let him play offense. Big mistake!

I also didn’t have cleats on at the time which may or may not have been a blessing. Think that would have been a torn ACL in the making if I spikes on that grass. The good news is that I can still blog on a pair of broken ankles. The even better news is that once Lyle makes his next trip to Philly, he’ll have to be the one playing defense and we can even up the score a little bit.

Like I said before, we’ll have more footage from the weekend coming out soon. Unreal tournament thrown together by LaxAllStars. If you’re a lacrosse fan and ever have an opportunity to take the trip up to Onondaga to either play in the tournament or just to watch, I highly recommend it. Also–big thanks to Lyle for not holding anything back here. A little selfish to not let me get at least one stop but then again, I don’t know if there’s anybody who can stop him on a pure 1-on-1.
