The Real Reason Francis Came to China: Downsizing

When Barstool Sports first moved me out to China I got a little too excited about the cheap cost of labor out here and started hiring people rapid fire. “Barstool Asia” was supposed to be just me but by month 3 I was running a 20 person “Content Factory” from the confines of my apartment(read: IKEA). It just wasn’t sustainable and I eventually got the call from HQ that it was time to downsize.

While I may come off as fearless in some of my videos, the truth is that deep down I’m a big softie, which is why the thought of having to fire one of my loyal comrades absolutely terrified me. Luckily, I work with a guy named Francis, a ginger sociopath incapable of feeling anything resembling human emotions. Barstool agreed to send him out to China to help with lay offs and save me the agony of having to confront any of my employees face to face. If any of you have seen the movie “In The Air”, Francis was pretty much asked to be a “corporate downsizer” just like George Clooney in that movie.

As you can see from the clip at the top of this blog, I think he did a bang up job.
