Tommy's Thursday Thoughts: Vol. 38 - Screwing In A Light Bulb
-Whenever someone sends me a screenshot, I instantly look at how charged their phone is and then form judgements on them.
-Why do we use “screwing in a light bulb” as the default easy task? There are definitely easier things. Screwing in a light bulb can actually sometimes prove difficult. You have to know what type of light bulb you need. You have to go buy it. You may need a ladder if it’s on the ceiling. Plus, electricity is always tricky and you can run the risk of electrocution. There just have to be easier tasks we can use for our idioms.
-Is the website Reddit supposed to be a play on words with “read it” (past tense). Like “I read it on Reddit.” I might be onto something.
-To rework an old Mitch Hedberg line about escalators – an electric toothbrush can’t break. It just becomes a toothbrush. You don’t have a broken electric toothbrush. You just have a toothbrush.
-I think I might join Taskrabbit and just offer to be a personal complainer for people. If you have an issue with a restaurant, a delivery, any sort of purchase or just anything in general, you can hire me to complain to the company for you. Phone calls, emails, letters, I’ll bombard their asses. I think it might be my calling.
-I hate when someone tells me to “have a safe flight” as if I have any control over the safety of the flight. Like no shit I want to have a safe flight. Let’s hope the pilot wants to have one too.
-It’s weird to think that Instagram DMs were originally referred to as “Instagram Direct.” Imagine the rap songs if it was still referred to that way?
Aye it go, it goes down in the Instagram direct (It go down)
It go down in the Instagram direct (It go down, it go down)
-I bet a lot of twins have been mixed up at some point as babies and the parents just never realized it. Their whole lives are lies.
-I find it very annoying when Ubers have automatic doors. I always mess it up. I want to be friendly and start the opening or closing process for them, but I don’t know if that just makes it harder for them. Usually it just goes like this …. (see video for demonstration)

-The word “aren’t” – often used in phrases like, “Why aren’t we doing ___?” – spelled out is “Why are not we doing ___?” Makes no sense.
Thank you for your time.
