The Ethan Kamps Story (Editors Note - Ethan Has 1 Month To Earn His Scholarship)
Well here we are. The big time. I know what you’re thinking to yourself, “How did a nineteen year old manage to get a content trial at Barstool Sports?”. Funny you should ask because I don’t really know either, so let’s recap.
A few weeks ago I applied – and was interviewed- to be “the next Frankie Borelli”. Now keep in mind that I had no idea how to video edit at all the morning before the interview. I worked all day on honing my very basic understanding of Premiere, to ultimately make a very subpar Dave Portnoy greatest moments montage.
Going to New York, I was pretty rattled knowing I’d be interviewed by Dave Portnoy (very intimidating), and I was going in with a video that I knew was gonna bomb – which it did. When I got there to interview with Dave, I had nothing to lose and so I didn’t hold anything back, I just let my true colors show. Good thing I didn’t because boy, oh, boy I made my trip to NYC well worth it.
I put on a show. The people literally couldn’t get enough Ethan Kamps.
I’m no expert, but I’d say that’s pretty fucking good. Credit to me for going into that interview and putting asses in the seats. I knew I had Dave hooked as soon as we got into the staring match with me. He saw these baby blues and there was nothing he could do except give me some sort of position at the company. No matter the capacity, he had to do something with me.
I mean…can you blame him?
I haven’t seen a lot of people’s eyes in the office but you’d have to think mine have to be up there in terms of quality. Easily.
There was a point where I thought I’d never hear back, but here I am at Barstool Sports. I’m ready to put my brain to use and make the most of my time here.
