'Call Him Papi' Episode 1: The Most Comprehensive David Ortiz Interview of All Time

If you’re a lifelong fan of Barstool, you know how crazy this is. If you’re a newer fan, I think it’s even crazier that we’ve gotten to the point where something like this isn’t even that crazy to you. From Dave delivering newspapers to having a platform where household names like David Ortiz want to bring their new media ventures. It’s been quite the wild ride for this company, and for me personally now having been along for said ride for the last seven years.

We’re calling the show Call Him Papi, an eight-episode series where Big Papi and I sit down with a number of David’s famous friends. You’ve got multi-time Super Bowl champions, multi-time Super Bowl MVPs, multi-time American League MVPs, multi-time World Series champions, Best Actor winners at the Oscars, Best Rap Album winners at the Grammys, a star included in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and 340 million dollar athletes who have graced the cover of video games. Not bad for season one.

It’s been a lot of fun putting this series together. It’s been a lot of work, too, so shout out to Brynn for taking on another project on top of what she was already responsible for and absolutely crushing it. Episode One is me interviewing David in the most comprehensive interview he’s ever given in his life. Back in his playing days, you’d be lucky to get him for 20 minutes. You’ve got David reflecting on his entire career for almost an hour and 45 minutes.
