Out Of Nowhere, Gary Sanchez is Playing His Way Into The All Star Game
If you're a Yankees fan you have likely given up on Gary Sanchez and put him on pedestal 100 different times. He's the streakiest hitter alive. When he's hot you think you're watching a future Hall of Famer swing the bat. When he's cold you convince yourself there is no worse hitter in the entire sport. Right now we're witnessing a Gary Sanchez resurgence and it's amazing to watch. Yesterday he continued his run with a go ahead double in the 6th to give the Yankees the lead. When Gary is going to right center you know he's locked in.
Ever since he adjusted his batting stance and shortened his leg kick the results have been off the charts. Over his last 20 games (16 starts) the Yankees catcher is slashing .344/.408/.719 which is good for a 1.127 OPS.. This motherfucker has played his into legitimate All Star consideration with a wRC+ of 125. He won't start the game because Salvador Perez has been out of this world for the Royals, but there's a real shot he's a reserve in Colorado next month. Just an insane turnaround after how bad the season started for him. This man was benched for Kyle Higashioka and it was well warranted at the time. Now it's clear as day Gary deserves the full starting role back and maybe even a few starts with Gerrit Cole.
You can't predict what's next for Gary, you just have to go with the flow because there's no telling what's to come. He even put Matt Chapman into a mental pretzel with his elite base running on Sunday. I still don't know what happened here.
Right now he's the Yankees hottest hitter and it's coming at the perfect time. They just won 5 of 6 against the Blue Jays and A's, putting some life back into their season. Day off today, so catch up on the podcast. Also enjoy all 3 triple plays that the Yankees have turned this season.
