Iowa Basketball's Peter Jok Popped For An OWI Last Night

IOWA CITY — Iowa freshman basketball player Peter Jok was arrested early Saturday for drunken driving, according to police reports. Jok, 20, was arrested on a black 2013 moped by Iowa City Police at 2:43 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Iowa Avenue. According to the police report, he was turning from an improper lane, had no safety flag and a cover was missing from his rear taillight, which showed a white light. Joke initially denied drinking but displayed watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. His initial blood-alcohol level was .082. He was taken to the Johnson County Jail and was still in custody mid-Saturday morning.

Well that’s not great news.  Probably not the news Fran McCafferry wanted to wake up to on this beautiful Iowa morning.  His freshman basketball player zooming around on a moped at 3am after having a few too many drinks.  Not exactly the smartest move in Iowa City where getting an OWI is about the easiest thing in the world.  Especially not on Iowa Ave which is basically at the heart of down town.  Jok didn’t play huge minutes this last season for the Hawks but with some of the main seniors on the team graduating Jok was sure to see his minutes increase by a lot.  We’ll see what kind of punishment gets handed down to young Peter.
