A High School Girl Wore A Traditional Chinese Dress To Prom And People Are OUTRAGED!

First of all, that IS a really nice dress. I don’t care how you slice it, the colors and the designs are really cool. If I had known my prom date was planning to wear something like that, I wouldn’t have tanked my prom so hard:

Some of us are late bloomers.

I don’t know enough about Chinese culture and style to understand why that dress cannot be worn by non-Chinese people. Maybe it’s simply offensive to wear it to a non-Chinese event, like an American prom? Maybe it’s a ceremonial thing. I understand you shouldn’t appropriate things from other cultures and mock them, but if you’re wearing something out of respect for another culture, it seems ok to me? I don’t know, I’m sorry, I will try to learn more about the world.

If your prom date was a huge fan of Inuit culture and showed up wearing this…

… she’d probably get a pass. But if she showed up in that outfit AND was dragging a dead seal carcass across the pavement, you’d have to call her out for it. The seal carcass is usually a deal-breaker, and also an ice-breaker because you have to break ice in order to murder seals. I saw this trick that polar bears do, where they wait for the seal to pop out of the ice and then they massacre it to bloody bits. Their jaws become vicious mandibles of flesh-devouring saws, ripping and tearing and thrashing. Man, polar bears are incredible.

Anyway, at least she’s sticking to her guns and refusing to take the picture down. Luckily, a few people came to Keziah’s defense:
