I Hate That We Now Live In A World Without Mini Me, RIP Verne Troyer
TMZ – Verne Troyer — best known for playing Mini-Me in the ‘Austin Powers’ comedies, and for being one of the shortest men in the world — has died.
Verne died Saturday afternoon, according to a statement from his family.
We broke the story … Troyer was taken to the hospital last week after cops got a report he was drunk and suicidal, and was treated for possible alcohol poisoning. Verne’s struggled with alcoholism for years and been to rehab many times.
Troyer was born with the genetic disorder known as achondroplasia dwarfism, but said growing up on a farm in Michigan he was never treated differently by his parents than his average-sized siblings.

Mannnnnnn. This is brutal. I love the Austin Powers movies. I blogged about how great they are not too long ago. Well before their time, and make me laugh out loud every single time I watch them, even 20 years later. And a major reason they are so great is because of Verne Troyer. The way he played Mini Me, absolutely owned that role, took the movies to the next level. He was just so good. So, so good. And since those movies, he’s remained an endearing figure, from the stories of him hanging with Playmates, to this all-time picture of him with the turkey,
Verne has always stayed in our hearts.
RIP to a staple of our better years.
