It Makes Me Sick To My Stomach That The Vegas Golden Knights Won Their First Ever Playoff Game
Now maybe this is just me still being a little ass hurt from the Flyers getting their dicks kicked in against the Penguins last night. But I blog from the heart and right now my heart is telling me that I am finally sick and tired of Vegas’ success.
Don’t get me wrong. I loved what Vegas was doing throughout the regular season. They flipped the NHL on its head. An expansion team comes in and right off the bat they win their division. A team full of castaways. A roster full of guys who were considered “non-essential” to their former clubs and were left exposed at the expansion draft. They don’t have a top line full of big name superstars. They don’t have a blueline filled with guys who are all potential Norris Trophy winners. They have Marc-Andre Fleury between the pipes who had been replaced by Matt Murray in Pittsburgh. What those players and what this team was able to accomplish during the regular season was incredible and nobody in the hockey world besides maybe some of the guys in that locker room expected to see anything like it.
With that being said…
Well the regular season is over, assholes, and now it’s time for you jabronis to start sucking. This shit right here? Well now this is getting on my nerves.
There are fanbases in this league who have been waiting entire generations for some success in the playoffs. Just look at what the Winnipeg Jets did last night. After taking down the Minnesota Wild 3-2, that was their first playoff win in organization history. That dates all the way back to the days of the Atlanta Thrashers. The Thrashers came into the league in the 1999-2000 season. Up until last night, that organization never won a single playoff game ever. Ever. 18 full seasons without a playoff win until last night.
Meanwhile the Vegas Golden Knights come into the league this year, they win their division right off the bat, host game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, have a dope ass pre-game ceremony (which actually isn’t unlike the rest of their home games this season. I’d highly recommend making it to Vegas at some point for a game because the in-house entertainment is ridiculous). And in their first playoff appearance in franchise history, they pull out a 1-0 win over the Kings. Fuck that. You guys want to be real hockey fans? How about you try being miserable for once. Let your team rip your damn hearts right out of your damn chest and tell me how that feels. If your team makes you want to chug a gallon of bleach then congratulations, you are a true hockey fan. Until that happens? You’re all just living in some make believe fairy tale world and I’m getting sick of hearing about it.
