Truth Be Told, It's Probably Ill-Advised To Leave A Guy This Wide Open On The Crease

So the North Carolina Tar Heels started off the season 6-0. Since then, they’ve dropped 5 straight games. Obviously things aren’t going their way lately and I think I’ve finally figured out what their issue is. You see, kids, this right here is pretty good defense.

It’s a bit of an unsettled situation but you’ve got a defender waiting to meet the ball carrier at GLE. You have your slide ready. You have your 2’s helping in on the crease. It’s not the most ideal scenario but it looks like UNC is going to be able to survive right here. And then… well… and then this happens.

All it takes is one little ball fake and all of a sudden, everybody forgets that Mike D’Amario is just standing there on the doorstep. Buddy could lay down and take a nap with how much time and room he has on the crease. Now I may not be a defensive mastermind or anything like that, but I’d have to imagine that this is actually bad instead of being good. Typically you’d rather err on the side of being good so you can see where the major issue is here. And the result?

Well D’Amario isn’t going to just let you leave him that naked on the crease and get away with it for free. He’s going to make the most out of this opportunity and rip your heart directly out of your chest. The most casual BTB these eyes have ever seen. Kid is just taking a stroll in the park. Fakes the goalie right out of his sweatpants, sticks it top right behind-the-back, ends up on SportsCenter and all in the process of Virginia getting their first win in the ACC since the 2014 season. The last time Virginia beat an ACC was April 26th, 2014 against UNC. Damn near 4 full years later, they finally get another conference win. This time against UNC again. So shoutout to the Tar Heels for being the bread for Virginia’s shit sandwich. Very selfless of them.
