Quick Shifts 3/21: Should You Throw Your Hat On The Ice For A Hat Trick Completed On An Empty Net?

::Link to Streamable if YouTube doesn’t work::

It doesn’t happen all the time but it still happens frequently enough to beg the question. If a player completes his hat trick with an ENG, should you waste your hat by throwing it on the ice? I say no. The goal still counts for the player. It’ll still count toward his end of the year bonuses. But we shouldn’t be throwing our hats on the ice all willy nilly just because somebody scored 3 goals in one game. It’s time for players to start earning the hats again. I feel like people today are just acting as robots. The moment they see somebody score their 3rd goal, their automatic reaction is to just chuck the hat without even taking into consideration how those goals were scored. You think I have $20 to set on fire every time somebody scores 3 goals in one game? Heck no. So unless that third goal is going to end up on a highlight reel, I say save your money and wait until the next time. This poor sack of shit was less than a second away from leaving MSG last night with everything he brought with him. Now he’s down a hat and probably had to walk around NYC last night looking like a slob with hat hair. Sad!
