Today Is A Pretty Memorable Day In NBA History
It’s random, but March 18th is actually a pretty big day in NBA history. Partially because of coincidence, but this date provided some of the biggest moments in league history. First, we have that picture above. We all know this play
I’ll personally never forget it. One of those true “you remember where you were when” moments. Me? I was in section 110 row 3 seat 16. Basically I had a front row seat as I witnessed this murder. The thing is, all 18,000 people could see it coming from a mile away. You knew it was going to be bad, but you couldn’t look away. Even with my hard Team Get Dunked On stance, I need to know what Jason Terry was thinking. Maybe it happened so fast he didn’t have time to think and the next thing he knew he was a dead person. They way Lebron stood over him like that? Terry has grandkids that aren’t even born yet that are going to feel that level of disrespect. Hard to believe it’s been 5 years since that play, and it didn’t help that the Celtics ended up losing this game 105-103 which would be the start of 5 consecutive losses.
But this is just the first March 18th example. An even bigger event happened on this day in 1995, when the NBA world was given this press release
The GOAT declared his return from baseball. You could say this was pretty big in the landscape of NBA history, all he did was win the next 3 NBA titles, not too shabby. I also found it pretty crazy that even after the time away, Jordan came right back and looked like his old self the very next day after this release
Speaking of GOATs, March 18th is also a day where the NBA world can celebrate another true GOAT, Brian Scalabrine. Today is his birthday and if you think maybe I’m stretching this idea just so I can include a hilarious Scal highlight YouTube video, you are correct.
Makes you think what crazy play is going to happen in today’s NBA games that we can then add to the list of one of the best days historically of the NBA calendar.
