Loyola With ANOTHER Late Second Shot To Win
Sister Jean!
What an unreal three days for Loyola, who hit a game-winner against Miami with a second to go in the Round of 64. This time it was Clayton Custer, the MVC Player of the Year, who hit a step back jumper with 3 seconds to go to beat Tennessee in the Round of 32. It was a pretty absurd game as Tennessee blitzed Loyola early jumping out to an early lead over Loyola in what was a low-scoring first half.
I mean, this run is absolutely ridiculous. In both games, Loyola was down 62-61 with less than 10 seconds to go. In the game against Miami, Lonnie Walker missed a free throw at that time leading to the Ingram three right before the buzzer. This time it was Custer hitting the step back when the game was 62-61.
The real story here though is Sister Jean, who is just winning America over with every passing minute. Jon Elmore can’t hit buckets against Sister Jean. Missed free throws happen against Sister Jean. It’s all Sister Jean.
What a crazy run for Loyola. They’ll be in Atlanta next week against the winner of Cincinnati/Nevada.
