Eagles Trade Torrey Smith For Panthers CB Daryl Worley
We salute you Torrey Smith. One season and you are forever a Philadelphia legend. While the Eagles were going to get rid of Smith regardless, any compensation for him is a bonus. The fact that it is Daryl Worley, a 2016 3rd round pick with 25 career starts, makes it seem like a great deal for the Eagles. Sure they already have a crowded defensive backfield, with a glut of cheap young talent, but Smith had to go. It could lend some credence to the rumors that one of the CBs (possibly Darby?) might be on the trading block, or the growing possibility that Patrick Robinson might not be retained.
Further, this still doesn’t solve the Eagles cap woes.
Torrey Smith was, from all accounts, a great locker room guy, not to mention giving us an all time memory from the Falcons game.
Despite his drops through the season, this catch did a ton to put us in a position to win the Falcons game. It set us up for late first half points and gave us momentum that we still haven’t lost.
But for now, let’s get to know Daryl Worley.
The highlights are pretty light, as we have to go back to West Virginia to see any extended video evidence of what makes him an attractive addition.
One takeaway: he is a Philly guy. Penn Charter stand up. He shares an alma mater with Pro Bowler Matt Ryan and wore the same number as Noel Devine at West Virginia, so until he fucks up, Worley is cool in my book.
