Doug Pederson's Post Game Locker Room Speech Proves This Eagles Team Is Something Special
Dougie with the feels. This team not only fucks on the field, but is a close knit family off the gridiron. And that all stems from Doug Pederson.
I had the fortunate, random opportunity to watch a Michigan game with Jason Avant at a bar last year. I asked about Doug Pederson as he played under the man as an Eagle and then as a Chief for all of his career. Avant simply said, “I love Doug”. That was it. My initial reaction towards him was, “Who gives a FUCK. Can the man coach or not?”. And my sentiment remained much the same through this season. But now I’m starting to get it, and why it matters.
Sure, the NFL is a business. And up until recently, I separated the pro’s from other levels of the game when it came to dealing with players and the team. These guys are paid millions to play a game for a living. Who gives a shit about chemistry, right? Do your fucking job. Period. Well, now I’m beginning to understand successful football is indeed the same at every level. You not only play for yourself, but even more so for your brother next to you, and the entire family as a whole. And that’s exactly how the Eagles are playing right now thanks to Papa Doug. These guys would take a bullet for that former career backup QB who, as I’ve said numerous times, looks like he could double as a substitute middle school Algebra teacher and not miss a beat. And we all should fucking love it.
I Tweeted it out last week that I cannot WAIT till the day comes where I apologize to Howie Roseman. The same goes for Doug Pederson. We’re not there yet, but dammit, we’re close. I’ve been beyond wrong thus far (not just about Pederson, Roseman, and the Eagles, but life in general), and I continue to hope my predictions shit the pooch. I’ve said many times before I’d rather eat my words and win then be correct and lose. And so far I’m rightfully choking. Now let’s keep things happy for the rest of the year. Don’t let Dougie get angry.
