After Tearing His ACL In Week 3 Last Season, DeAngelo Hall Is Ready To Play Again
Yahoo - The Redskins made a roster move Wednesday that could lead to the return of one of the Redskins’ veteran leaders.
The team announced it will put first-year safety Stefan McClure on injured reserve. McClure has an injured hamstring he suffered during the game against the Cowboys on Sunday.
The move means that the Redskins have just two healthy safeties on the roster, D.J. Swearinger and Deshazor Everett.
The move of McClure to IR might mean that the team is ready to activate DeAngelo Hall from the physically unable to perform list. Hall was placed on PUP at the start of training camp as he continued to rehab a torn ACL he suffered in 2016. He started to practice on October 19 and he was eligible to be put on the 53-man roster after the Redskins’ game in Philadelphia on October 23. The team has until November 9 to return him to the roster.

Can’t help but to feel awesome for DHall here. There’s no telling if his comeback attempt will be successful, but it’s pretty great that he’s even trying. DHall could have called it a career. He was an awesome corner in his prime. And awesome to play with on Madden with his 99 speed. But at the grizzled age of 33, coming off multiple Achilles injuries and a torn ACL, it’s a big question mark if he can still go out there and contribute. And it looks like we will be finding out sooner than later.
The Redskins are so injured. At every position, down the depth chart, the Skins have someone hurt. It sucks- the linebacker crew is banged up, our corners are in shambles, and I believe we will be starting 4 backups on the Oline this week in Seattle. 4! Not great! And then the safety situation is obviously dire at best. Having 2 healthy safeties is not great, so DHall will be tested early and often.
Look- he kinda stunk at safety when he was moved there a couple seasons ago, and he kinda stunk the few games he played last year. There’s no getting around that. He was late on nearly every play, it was actually kinda humorous to watch jump onto piles 5 seconds after the play ended. But that doesn’t mean I’m not glad he’s back. He’s an awesome dude, loves football, loves the Skins, and worked really, really, really hard to get back from injury. So I’ll be rooting for him on Sunday, and I hope you are too. Hopefully we get to see this one more time:
