America Destroys Rest Of The World At Presidents Cup
The United States of America destroyed the Internationals (aka the entire world minus Europe) in perhaps the least dramatic major golf event I’ve ever seen. We were massive favorites entering — about 4 to 1 — and delivered in spectacular fashion.
We won the first session 3 1/2 to 1 1/2. We won the second session 4 1/2 to 1/2. We won the third session 3 1/2 to 1/2. We won the fourth session 3 to 1.
We led 14 1/2 to 3 1/2 entering Sunday singles when all you need is 15 1/2 to win. It was a drubbing start to finish.
Here was the kinda weird moment Daniel Berger secured the Cup in just the 4th match of the day.
Nice to see this kind, soft, compassionate soul get that clinching point.
The Internationals did win the singles session 7 1/2 to 4 1/2.
On one hand, the manner in which we destroyed the Internationals was pretty disappointing. We knew we were going to win, but would’ve liked to have done it with some tight, intense dramatics down the stretch. Instead, the entire competition was over from the first session.
On the other hand, it’s nice knowing American team golf is in PRIME shape moving forward. The Presidents Cup is quite obviously nothing compared to the Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup is what we really care about and our future at both of these things looks bright as all hell. Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Daniel Berger are all just 24. Patrick Reed is 27. Koepka is 27. Fowler is 28.
We live to crush Europeans and we’re all set up to do that for a couple decades to come. Hell yes.
Shoutout to the 3 Fore Play boys this week. Kevin Chappell hit one in the damn TV tower today…
Hoffman I think woke up this morning with champagne and a stogie in his mouth…
And Kis was legit hammered at the joint presser last night after boozing it up with the fans all day…
U-S-A! U-S-A!
Speaking of USA, Donnie was on site.
This time next year, the band gets back together to defend the Ryder Cup in France. Let’s. Fucking. Go.
