I’m beginning to feel like The Comeback is going to be one of those historic, life-altering events that we’ll still be getting fresh stories about 50 years from now. Like WWII or JFK’s assassination or something. It touched everyone’s lives, and everyone has a tale to tell
And this one is weirdly interesting to me. God knows Dave, Feits and I have had it out with Ben Volin on numerous occassions. But I almost feel sympathy for the guy watching this. You can still feel how close he was to living the dream. Of being able to mushroom stamp his readership and bathe in the blood of the fanbase he has so much contempt for. Only to have the Pats flip the script entirely and make him wallow in his own misery instead. It gives you an appreciation for how hard their jobs can be sometimes. But on the other hand, try writing a Knee Jerk Reaction to that game at 1AM when you’re still drunk and looking at the screen through tears of joy. We’ve all got our problems. Most of mine just happened to have ended when James White got in the end zone.
