I’ve seen this video making the rounds on the interwebz and everyone lauding Phil Mickelson for being a nice guy and a caring guy and a guy who is #GoodForGolf for interacting with a young fan and blah blah blah. People waxing poetic about how great this moment was and how it embodies the type of guy Phil Mickelson. Everybody freaking out about it. And you know what? They’re absolutely fucking right. I don’t have a tongue-in-cheek response for it. That was great. Normally I think people go over the top when a professional athlete simply talks to another human being. Like it’s some magical thing when a person of their standing is generous enough to talk to a normal person. It seems like an odd thing to compliment someone for. But that interaction right there was great. How about the balls on that kid? Phil was for sure thinking he kid would be too nervous to formulate words and would just nod his head. NOPE. The kid clapped back with a zinger and had the crowd in stitches.
