How About Floyd Mayweather Wearing Some Old Hat From The Back Of His Closet Yesterday?
Yahoo Sports- As it turns out, the “48” is a reference to Mayweather’s heavily hyped and much-maligned matchup with Manny Pacquiao on May 2, 2015.
“Number 48 was the biggest fight in boxing history,” Mayweather told Yahoo Sports as he pointed to his hat Tuesday. “This was iconic. You know, this was a $300 million fight for me. And, of course, one of my favorite shows was ‘The First 48.’ ”
I’d say the #1 question I got yesterday was “Why is Floyd Mayweather wearing a ’48’ hat?” It got to the point where SO many people were asking, I started to do that lash-out thing where I’m like “I already said I don’t know. I still don’t know. What would make you think I know now when I didn’t know two seconds ago?” while Frankie Borrelli’s like “Sorry dude, I really didn’t know that was a sensitive subject.” It baffled me though. Floyd is 49-0. He’s going for 50. He’s about to turn 41. What the fuck does 48 mean?
Oh, apparently nothing. It means literally nothing. It was a hat he wore in the build up to the Pacquiao fight. He also coincidentally likes “The First 48″.
It is a BAD look for The Money Team to have Floyd wearing an old hat at the biggest press conference of all time while Conor McGregor is wearing the flyest “fuck you” suit of all time.
Hey Floyd, pay your taxes. I’ll buy you a new hat if you can’t afford one before this fight just so my thumbnails get better.
