Tyler The Creator Comes Out Of The Closet...Again

Source – Tyler the Creator made headlines this week thanks to lyrics on his upcoming new album Scum Fuck Flower Boy that appear to reference his sexuality.

“Next line I’ll have em’ like woah,” he spits on the track ‘I Ain’t Got Time’, “I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004.” The line was seized upon largely because Tyler has been accused of homophobia in past lyrics (though he has supported the LGBT community, previously releasing a Pride series of his GOLF clothing line), but it is far from the first time the rapper has referenced coming out the closet. Last year, in response to Kendall Jenner tweeting him “Apparently we’re dating,” he said, “Not possible, we’re both gay.”

The idea of being closeted is clearly something he is interested in though, with Tyler adding on another Scum Fuck Flower Boy track, ‘The Garden Shed':

Garden shed, garden shed, garden shed
Garden shed for the
garçons
Them feelings I was guardin’
Heavy on my mind
All my friends lost
They couldn’t read the signs
I didn’t wanna talk and tell ‘em my location
And they ain’t wanna walk
Truth is, since a youth kid, thought it was a phase
Thought it’d be like the Frank; poof, gone
But, it’s still goin’ on

Asked by Larry King if he thinks we’ll ever have a “gay rap artist” in 2014, Tyler replied: “Maybe one day…but why does that shit matter? Like, if he wanna fuck dudes or whatever, why does that matter? Why do we care? That’s so crazy right?”

Got to be a little more explicit, my friend. Maybe join a blog, change your name to “Gay Tyler,” really make it your brand. Spell it out. Alluding to the fact that you like dudes through a loosely translated french synonym for boys isn’t going to cut it. Don’t get me wrong, I believe you, but thats because we go to the same church. You’re going to have to prove yourself to the breeders if you want to reap the benefits. Tweet it out or something.

Shit. Okay- maybe the reason no ones reacting is because no one actually cares. Or they’re just not surprised? I mean look at him:

The leopard pants, the hand on the hip, the leg. Any gayer and he’d be Miss Jay. He’s pulling a classic non-verbal come out; look so gay you don’t have to tell people. Nothing wrong with that, to each his own. It’s probably easier to honest, just strap on a pair of pirate pants, take a few selfies and call it a day. Hindsight is twenty-twenty.

Despite him being possibly the most obnoxious human on the planet I think he handled this well. He’s a twenty-six year old dude with six million dollars in the bank. Can’t be easy to come out when you have that much at stake. Then again, maybe it is, it’s not like he’s Jay-Z. Whatever the case, being a gay dude is nothing new for him, it’s just new for the rest of us. Best of luck, Tyler.
