Police Dog Gets Fired Because He Was Too Nice And Social And A Very Good Boy

Telegraph- This is Gavel, a German Shepherd who was recruited as a puppy to train as a police dog – but ended up getting the sack. Unfortunately, Gavel was found to be not up to the task. As the police put it, he “did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line.” The problem was, Gavel was too sociable. He loved meeting strangers, and would much rather play with someone than help arrest them. And so, after months of training, his career in law enforcement was over. However, as one door closes another opens – and Gavel was offered a new job working for the Governor of Queensland, where he holds the official title Vice-Regal Dog.

Well that’s the most adorable fucking thing I’ve ever heard. Easily the best story about somebody getting fired. Yeah no shit the dog was social and nice and loved getting belly rubs from strangers. He’s a dog. That’s what dogs do. They lick faces and brighten days. It’s honestly shocking there’s any police dogs after reading that story. Dogs are not cut out for police life. And while we’re here, they should let people pet service dogs in the airport. I’ve been wanting to get that off my chest for awhile now. Let me pet that damn dog. Take that stupid vest off that tells me I can’t pet him. That’s cruel and unusual punishment for both parties. I wanna pet the dog. The dog wants to be petted(?). So let it happen. Service dogs in the airport are the biggest tease in the world. You throw people into the worst place ever and then tell them they can’t pet dogs. It’s messed up.
