Big Congrats To The Seattle Mariners, Who Just Scored More Than One Run In A Game For The First Time Since May 18
Shout out to the Seattle Mariners. Been a rough go for the boys out west over the last couple weeks or so. Really, it’s been the whole year, but more so lately. Back on May 10, they were finally able to get to .500 at 17-17 for the first time since they started the season 0-0, but they’ve dealt with a ton of injuries to key players two months into the season. Not as bad as the Blue Jays, but it hasn’t been pretty, either.
Robinson Cano, Hisashi Iwakuma, James Paxton, and Felix Hernandez have all needed stints on the disabled list, among many others, so that hasn’t helped at all. Since they reached the .500 mark on May 10, they’ve gone on to lose 10 of their next 14 coming into today, which is the second worst record in the American League over that span. Only the Orioles have been worse. And this three-run home run by Nelson Cruz, who is currently dealing with a sore hamstring while avoiding the DL, snapped a streak of five consecutive games that the M’s managed to score just one run, all losses. Thankfully, the Mariners hung on to win this one by a score of 4-2.
