GasMoneyBob's Bears Draft Preview

PhiTown is DraftTown? Shaking my head. The draft belongs in Chicago. It’s not going to be the same. I never made it to the Draft or even Draft Town, but you could feel the energy in the air around Chicago. There hasn’t been that kind of excitement in this town since 1985.
That being said, the Bears still need to participate in this draft. I went round by round and selected the player I thought would be best for our Bears. There are probably 1-2 HoFers in this group and all should be in a Pro-Bowl at some point.
I came up with a cybermetric stat called GRAT also known as Grit Rating. GRAT is compiled by giving a score from 1-10, ten being the best, in the following five categories: Toughness, Heart, Fire, Passion, and Effort. Each pick will show their GRAT score as well.
Round 1 Pick #3
Jamal Adams, S LSU
GRAT: 49.3
Adams is the type of leader the Bears need in the secondary. He is extremely aggressive at the point of attack, has explosive pop, and is incredibly instinctive in coverage. He also checks all of the boxes off the field and in the locker room. His blue collar mentality will fit perfectly on this team and in this city.
Round 2 Pick #36
Deshone Kizer, QB Notre Dame
GRAT: 47.6
The Bears get a QB to develop under Glennon for the next few seasons. Playing college at a local Chicago school will help the fans embrace Deshone as our QB of the future. Kizer is durable and unselfish. Playing at ND, where Rudy Ruettiger (GRAT: 50) played, can only help him.
Round 3 Pick #67
Dion Dawkins, OT Temple
GRAT: 48.2
Dawkins was said to have “a freezer like frame”. Introducing The Freezer. He will be embraced by Bears fans immediately much like The Fridge. His coaches considered him one of the toughest players at Temple. He has a mean streak and plays with a “brawling mentality”.
Round 4 Pick #111
Cooper Kupp, WR Eastern Washington
GRAT: 49.0
Imagine opposing defenses having to prepare to stop both Cooper Kupp and Daniel Braverman on the same play. Good luck with that. Kipp is a crafty receiver with sticky hands, great awareness, and an abusive stiff arm. He also has NFL genes. His father and grandfather both played in the league.
Round 4 Pick #117
Jalen Myrick, CB Minnesota
GRAT: 47.1
Myrick is a fast CB that is also versatile and will help in the return game. “He possesses a real feel for the position” so that’s nice. He also played in Bear-like weather at the University of Minnesota. Experts tabbed him as the best DB to recently come out of MN and that list includes Brock Vereen (Bear for Life).
Round 5 Pick #147
Jonnu Smith, TE Florida International
GRAT: 47.6
Jonnu plays the game fast, has good burst out of his stance, is competitive, and athletic. Loves the weight room. Has overcome a ton of adversity. Smith once played with a torn ACL. He also survived boiling water burns from his pregnant girlfriend. The man is a warrior.
Round 7 Pick 221
Vincent Taylor, DT Oklahoma State
GRAT: 46.9
Taylor is extremely powerful benching 225-26 times at the combine putting him near the top of list. He has active hands and tosses blockers aside to get to the QB. Taylor is a Katrina survivor. I’m not sure how he will handle the cold and snow, but I know he can handle the rain.
As we all know, the Bears are on the cusp of being a perennial Super Bowl contender. If Ryan Pace follows my suggestions it should be the final pieces to put them over the top. Hopefully Pace and Fox will see this and use it in the war room.
Bear Down!
