Maybe Mike Babcock Shouldn't Have Publicly Said That He Isn't Worried About Tom Wilson

Hey Mike Babcock…Boo!

Tom Wilson is going to haunt Mike Babcock’s dreams until the end of time. Babcock is going to wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat because he wrote off Tom Wilson. Willy will be his boogeyman. He’ll be around every corner, under every bed, just reminding him of what he said.

Look, I’m a pretty fair person. I eat my Cheerios. I call my mother. I know Tom Wilson isn’t a prolific goal scorer (yet). But to write him off as if he doesn’t change games is insanity and one of the dumbest things a coach can do. Ask the Islanders if he’s a concern. Ask the Flyers if he is a concern. If he’s not laying brain-bashing hits (and keep in mind he still has 0 suspensions from the NHL for any hit), he’s drawing penalties and getting the Caps PP chances to light the lamp. He also is a mainstay on the Caps 3rd ranked PK. And now he’s scoring OT GWG goals in the playoffs….so to say he’s not a big concern…well…I think he just proved he’s a little more than just “a guy”.
