Carlos Correa Hit A 449-Foot Piss Rocket Last Night That Cleared The Train Tracks
I was all in on the Astros last year, but I think I was a year early. Don’t sleep on the Astros this year. Last year, they were a young team that had a ton of talent, but no veteran leadership. After going out and acquiring Brian McCann from the Yankees and signing Carlos Beltran and Josh Reddick as free agents, that is no longer the case. Now, you’ve got your young core of Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, and George Springer supplemented with former All Star veteran talent.
But while they’ve certainly made improvements from last year’s 83-win team, a notable amount of this team’s success (or lack thereof) will depend on the success of former Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel, who is coming off a disappointing season in which he sported a 4.55 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a mark of 9.0 hits per nine innings. This was all after leading the league in WHIP the year before.
If the Astros are gonna do this in 2017, they’re gonna need the some semblance of the 2015 Keuchel. Because when it comes to that lineup, you’re dealing with a lot of guys that you know what you’re gonna get from them. But when it comes to Keuchel, we honestly have no idea. However, if last night was any indication of which Keuchel we’re gonna get — 7 innings, 2 hits, 0 ER, couple walks, 4 strikeouts — then the Astros just might be the team to beat in the American League West, because I also think that this could be a big breakout year for Lance McCullers in that Houston rotation, too.
By the way — that absolute BOMB that Carlos Correa hit over the train tracks was the seventh hardest hit ball of the season through the first two days, but it wasn’t harder than either of Madison Bumgarner’s two home runs on Sunday, which is insane.
Also, Carlos, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Albert Pujols had the best over the train tracks home run of all-time.
