The Undertaker Says Goodbye
Well, we knew it was going to happen, and it did. The Undertaker lost to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, a match 2+ years in the making. Undertaker went out on his back, as all of the best do, and apparently on his own terms, handing over the keys to the kingdom to Roman Reigns. It was a weird match, not really a good one, but the outcome was Taker on his back, being pinned for the 1-2-3.
He then took off his ring gear, laid it down in the ring, and exited it for what looks to be the last time as a wrestler. An absolute legend.
I could go on and on about how I feel about the WWE insisting on Reigns being a face, but at this point I think everyone pretty much is in agreement with how bad he’s been booked and written for the last couple of years. Vince insists he be the guy, even if the entire arena is chanting “Roman sucks”. And now he’s the guy that retired the Undertaker. Strange indeed.
PS: Good Ol’ JR returning to announce Taker’s last match, a week after his wife died, was heart wrenching. Was good to hear his voice on WWE television again, that’s for sure. Just wish it was under different circumstances.
