Indiana Will Hire Dayton's Archie Miller
It was only a matter of time for this domino to fall. The moment Steve Alford shut down every rumor about him to Indiana after UCLA’s loss last night it was who would now take the Indiana job. Most Indiana fans will be happy about the hire. Archie has been the it name the last couple of years and passed up a couple other big jobs to get a top-15 job in the country.
According to Woj (who is now WojBombing everything) it will be a 7-year deal. I can confirm there was an emergency meeting called for the staff and players this morning at Dayton. For Archie, it makes sense to leave Dayton now as he loses the class with the most wins in school history. Guys like Kyle Davis, Charles Cooke, Kendall Pollard and Scoochie Smith will now move on and Dayton will have to somewhat rebuild.
The biggest question for Archie will be can he recruit Indiana. It’s what Indiana fans want. They want to keep the top talent in the state. There’s been too many guys leaving and the sense of ‘Indiana basketball’ being top-notch has gone by the wayside.
It’s a safe but really good hire. Now the next two things to watch is what players decide to come back from Indiana and who takes Dayton – a really good A-10 job.
