Mark Wahlberg Signs $10 Million Deal With AT&T - Will His Commercial Top Mine?

NY Post- Page Six has learned that Mark Wahlberg has signed a massive eight-figure deal with AT&T to be its new spokesperson and create original content for the mobile network.

Wahlberg — whose deal is said to be above $10 million — comes after Taylor Swift signed a multiyear deal with the same network.

Wahlberg and Swift are going toe to toe with Verizon’s team of Jamie Foxx — who calls out Sprint in his “Can You Hear Me Now” ad from last year — and Ricky Gervais, who poked further fun at Sprint and its hometown of Kansas City, Kan., which led to a torrent of tweets from Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure.

Marky Mark joins a growing list of celebs with massive commercial deals. You might be thinking, $10 million? Doesn’t he make that in one movie? Why would he sell out for AT&T like that? The answer, for those of you who aren’t in show biz like me and the Berg, is that commercials typically take 1-2 days to shoot. He probably does 2 spots a year, so he’s basically getting paid 10 million dollars for maybe 20 days of work over the next few years. Not too shabby.

I’ll take this time to address the fact that I, like Mark Wahlberg, have been the face of AT&T. Before Barstool, I was doing commercial work to help pay the rent. Commercials are fucking awesome if you can book them because you get PAID. My commercial took 1 day to shoot and because it’s a union commercial, you get residual checks every time AT&T renews its cycle. Or something. I’m throwing a lot of words around here that I don’t really understand but the point is, once you book a big commercial, you can just live off that for a while as you work on your passion projects. It’s a huge relief. Plus, they’re fun.
