Rory Played Golf With President Trump Over The Weekend At Trump International
No Laying Up- Rory McIlroy teed it up with the president of the United States, Donald Trump on Sunday morning at Trump International. McIlroy rode in the cart for all 18 holes with the president, and told No Laying Up the following: “He probably shot around 80. He’s a decent player for a guy in his 70’s!” This picture was posted by Clear Sports, which also shows Paul O’Neill and Clear Sports CEO Garry Singer, although Rory confirmed to No Laying Up that they were not a part of the grouping. The four ball was rounded out by Nick Mullen from ISM, and Rich Levine (a friend of Trump’s). Rory said that he did not get the call to play until Saturday night asking if he would play Sunday morning. McIlroy is nursing a stress fracture in his rib, and was not planning to play golf until the following weekend, but said he had to make an exception for the president.
First we had Ernie Els and Tiger Woods dropping everything to play a round of golf with the newly-minted POTUS and now we can add Rory McIlroy to that list. People just love playing golf with the president. Say what you will about the optics of playing golf and rubbing shoulders with Donnie T, but you can’t deny that being friends with the most powerful man in the world can’t hurt. You think any of those guys give a shit about Trump and his crazy ways? Nope. They don’t. I wouldn’t either if I were them. At the end of the day, being friends with the president simply has more advantages than not being friends with the president, regardless of who’s in office. What I need to know is how guys like Rory and Tiger and Ernie play Trump during a round like this. Do you beat him and risk him deporting you and your family? Or do you let him win and become his best friend? That’s a tough call to make. I think you let him win. The sneaky underrated part of that picture is Paul O’Neill looking like a goddamn body builder.
