Should This Jordan Jersey Released Today Be My White Whale?
Everyone has their thing in life. KFC loves sneakers. Forrest Gump loves ping pong. Pauly D loves a good beat drop. I love sports jerseys. Collecting jerseys has been my thing since I was a young tyke. Nothing like opening a present for Christmas and seeing a classic jersey that makes your toes curl and your Glenny Balls tingle.
Some of my past favorites include:
Earl Campbell Oilers
Ryan McDonagh Wisconsin
And Joe Sakic Nordiques
I never thought I would come across a jersey that can look better than those 3, yet here I am. The Bulls have always had an amazing design. I’ve just never acted on it due to Jordan jerseys being so mainstream. A Jordan jersey and a Michael Vick jersey (in 2004) (and before he killed all those dogs) are in a class of their own. This bad boy though? That’s an exception. That’s maybe the rarest jersey I’ve ever seen.
In reality, jerseys are conversation starters just like anything in life is. You get cool shit to start conversation with people you don’t know that can lead to God only knows what. I’m not sure if any jersey can start a better conversation than that. A Bulls jersey with #12 along with no name on the back that Jordan only wore for 1 game? That calls for an interrogation at a party. Not only is it such a rare jersey, but also it may finally be an worthy exception to sport a Bulls jersey. My white whale for the past couple of years has been a Wilt Chamberlain Globetrotters jersey and I think that may have officially changed. Big time moves by the NBA Store.
