The Challenge Returned Last Night And MTV May Not Have Fucked It Up This Season

So I think that headline accurately describes last night’s episode and what the upcoming season appears to be. Definitely not great, but DEFINITELY not the shit we have had to go through the last two seasons. As JJ said on last night’s No Quitters podcast, we weren’t angry after the episode was over. So those are baby steps I will gladly take. Onto the recap.

Hope everyone wasn’t expecting Wes this season. He is now in charge of 100 companies and probably now driving a whole fleet of monster trucks.

Customary response to a Wes tweet:

In a complete curveball nobody could have seen coming, Tony did the Bananas speech for the season since Bananas isn’t around (…yet) and I’ve never been prouder of a Challenge cast member in my life. Most growth any of those maniacs have ever shown.

This isn’t a good butt season. It’s a GREAT butt season, with Ashley leading the way last night.

When they teased the champions, we got a glimpse CT’s baby AKA the person that will one day break Michael Phelps’ gold medal record.

And when we checked in on Johnny Bananas, who stole the show with the line of the night despite barely being on camera during the show.

A+++ job out of this Stoolie marrying Barstool merch to The Challenge. Johnny Bananas is truly the Patriots of The Challenge.

It was nice to see everyone could be adults about people getting voted into the elimination last night. And by adults I mean friendships ending and girls going for each others’ goddamn THROATS.

I need Nicole to either decide on if her accent is from Boston or New York or I need to mute the TV every time she is on.

Not only did we get CTE-inducing elimination rounds back, but we got a battle between a homeless guy and a newly minted father of two. Ultimate “Who wants it more” scenario. Praise Jesus!

MTV knows what’s up.

Give Barstool the ability to write the rulebook and pick next season’s and The Challenge will have better ratings than the Super Bowl.

Anyway, we got Tony back as well as Kailah. Two clutch members for a great season. Tony because he is a coozehound with a heart of gold. Kailah because she is the epitome of Daddy Issues. I think we have a great season ahead of ourselves*.

(*GOD I FUCKING HOPE SO)
