I'm Still in Awe Of DeSean Jackson's 80 Yard Catch From Yesterday
A day later and I’m still in awe of this catch. I’m not sure anyone in the NFL ball tracks quite as well as DeSean does. The focus, the balance, and the coordination he showed here is why he’s still one of the best in the league. It’s why nobody makes a big deal that he doesn’t practice. Because when it matters, he shows up and does things that nobody else in the league can do. He has made Kirk Cousin’s life so much easier with his speed and field stretching ability. You leave him in single-coverage just once and look what happens.
That 80 yard bomb was DeSean’s 22nd career TD of at least 60 yards. Which puts him in pretty good company…..only Jerry Rice has more. That’s right, in NFL history, only Jerry Rice has more 60+ yard TDs than DJax, and Rice has 23.
If Jackson does in fact leave in free agency this offseason, the Redskins will still have weapons like Crowder and 1st round pick Josh Doctson, but DJax is still a one of a kind talent that is extremely hard to fully replace. Let’s just hope he doesn’t land back in Philly.
