The Hot New Trend Is The #HideTheBody Challenge Where People Ask Friends To Help Them Cover Up A Murder
We’re at the tail end of 2016 and we’ve got to do what we can to make sure to close this year out as one of the most absurd ever. Why not the #hideyourbody challenge? There’s a shitload on Facebook, including people who helpfully did not blur their loved ones’ phone numbers on public posts, and it’s hilarious how many people are using actual MURDER as a way to get some lulz on social media. It’s idiotic as a prank given that lying about something over text where a person can’t tell tone or anything doesn’t make it a “prank.” But as a dumb experiment? It’s actually not the worst one. I mean yeah there’s probably a decent chance of false 911 calls from people who are, you know, horrified their friend or acquaintance killed someone.
But there’s no better test of where your friendship lies than having to bury a body. Plus thanks to the advent of TV shows where average people are covering up murders, we now all know that you have to get some acid to melt the body like Breaking Bad or chop it up into pieces like The Sopranos and then get lye and bleach everything like on SVU. It’s not as simple as just digging a hole and throwing a person in now, you’re talking hours of manual labor and cleaning and preparation. It’s like helping a friend move or driving someone to the airport times 1,000 and that’s ignoring all the legal ramifications. For as many dumb viral pranks as there may be out there, at least this one will let you test where your friends’ loyalties truly lie when it comes to the labor intensive field of murder. Helpful to know in any situation.
Also this seems pretty relevant to the prank itself, the “more cowbell” skit gets more hype but this is right up there as far as Christopher Walken on SNL goes:
