Josh Norman Calls The NFL "Barbaric", Calls Out Their Hypocrisy, And Wants To Incorporate A Keg Into His On Field Celebration

WaPo – The Redskins cornerback — penalized and fined for pretending to shoot a bow and arrow earlier this season — told USA Today this week that he already has his next celebration planned. And it involves one of the treasured sponsors of our weekly dose of pigskin. That’s right: beer.

“Since they sell beer on TV while kids are watching it, I’m thinking I might open a keg on the field, and I’m going to drink it on the field,” Norman said on Thursday afternoon after his regular session with the local media crew. “And I don’t see that being [against] the rule book.”

“I think we have a double standard as a league,” Norman said last week on 106.7 The Fan. “We say we want to be PG — or whatever television show we’re showing — but at the same time, we’re selling beer on TV shows when kids are watching. It’s kind of like, well, dang, if that’s the case and that’s good, why can’t we have fun within the game?

“I mean, it’s a barbaric sport,” Norman went on. “C’mon, man, let’s be realistic here. You want to have things the way you want it, but when it comes to us, we can’t have the things that we want. Like, it don’t even make any sense. It’s stupid to the point where who is running this ship, you know? And why are we allowing things to happen like that that shouldn’t be? That’s kind of how I feel.”

Preach Josh Norman, preach. Josh Norman has sneaky become the voice of the NFL fan. He’s sick of the NFL’s bullshit as much as the rest of us. He’s sick of getting penalized for a fake bow and arrow. He’s sick of the NFL preaching player safety and then making teams play on Thursdays. He’s sick of them acting like it’s a nice, PG, kid-friendly league, and then having beer ads every 5 seconds. He even goes as far to say that the NFL is “barbaric”, which is obviously 100% true. It’s the biggest, strongest, fastest athletes running full speed into each other. Every game someone is a split second away from a career-ending injury. The long-term effects of playing in the NFL are horrendous for most. And all the while, the contracts are non-guaranteed.

So Norman is going to follow the NFL rules. He’s going to tap a keg right there on the field. If you can’t fire an imaginary bow and arrow because somehow that is “violent”, he’s at least going to teach the 12 year olds how to drink imaginary beers like a pro. Fake medieval weapons? BAD. Binge drinking? GREAT.

I mean obviously if you’re a kid and see Josh Norman fire a fake bow and arrow and decide you want to then murder people with a bow and arrow, Tommy will come back there and hit you on the head with a tack hammer because you’re a retard. Or it’s more likely your parents are, but whatever.

It all comes down to the fact the NFL simply cannot get out of its own way. They have ticked and tacked every tiny detail of the game to the point the fans hate it, the players hate it, and the product is so very bad. There’s hardly even good rivalry games to look forward to. Players are just trying to stay alive out there, but god forbid you shoot a jump shot after a TD.

And of course….all the while, Josh Brown is talking about how he beat his wife and nothing happened to him at all. The NFL is a mess and a joke. Good for Josh Norman and Steve Smith for calling out the bullshit.
