Email: Would You Keep Mike Shanahan Without His Son?
Email:
So it looks like Kyle said he needs to get other experience from someone who is not his father and will be leaving next season. Now let me ask you this, would you keep Mike if there was a promise to get rid of his awful son or do you strongly believe they both need to go? I figure most our problems came from the younger of the two and we are going to be paying Mike $7M next year anyway, just curious to see where your heads at. I feel like keeping Mike around at least for next season is smart financially but also I believe he gives us the best edge this coming draft and free agency because with this season aside, he is a lot better then Dan Snyder picking who we sign and don’t.
VIVA!
Regards,
Corey
Mike Shanahan is not a good head coach. He doesn’t know how to manage the clock. He doesn’t know how to use timeouts properly. How many more times can we see him use a timeout coming out of a TV timeout? And he doesn’t manage his staff like a headcoach should. The Redskins have the WOAT special teams unit. And that’s not hyperbole. They have historically the worst special teams in the modern era of the NFL. But the coach, Keith Burns, has not been fired.
And of course, that whole thing where Mike Shanahan doesn’t put in the effort required from a head coach. It’s painfully obvious. And this is how he assembles his staff:
CBS - “This is the NFL, it’s not supposed to be a training ground for coaches,” said someone who has worked with Kyle Shanahan in Washington. “It’s ridiculous. Look at this staff. It sucks. Mike’s best buddy is (longtime Shanahan assistant and current linebackers coach Bob Slowik), and Slowik’s son is in his second year out of college and he’s on the staff. Everyone on the staff is in his first or second year except for Mike and Kyle and Haslett (defensive coordinator Jim Haslett) and Raheem (Morris, the secondary coach), and everyone knows Raheem is there because he is close with Kyle. Those two go way back.
It’s insane. This is the guy who is getting paid 7 million dollars a year to be the head coach of the Washington Redskins.
And how about Schefter yesterday, “breaking” the news that Shanahan isn’t going to resign. Uhhh, no shit? Why would he? He gets 7 million bucks next season to do the least. He is working his ass off to get fired, and Snyder won’t budge. Snyder would rather go down with the ship than admit it’s sinking.
Finally, he just later gator’d the fuck out of there yesterday when someone asked a question he didn’t like. Just took his ball and went home.
Fucking autoplay makes me not embed the video. Enough with autoplay. Fuck.
So let’s see. No idea how to manage a game, no relationship with the owner, an inability to build a competent coaching staff, a terrible relationship with the media, and after this season, what free agents would want to come play for this clown?
So no. I do not want Mike Shanahan back, even without his son. Both can tell their stories walking. Into a pit of lava.
