Democrats Raise $13,000 In 40 Minutes To Repair Firebombed Republican Office

Business Insider — After the apparent vandalizing and firebombing of a local Republican party headquarters in Hillsborough, North Carolina, a GoFundMe page called “Dems help reopen a NC Repub office” raised $13,117, more than its stated $10,000 goal, within just 40 minutes.

The Republican office in Hillsborough was discovered on Sunday to have extensive fire damage from what seems to be a bottle of flammable material thrown through the window. Graffiti outside said “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”

This is supposed to be a feel-good story, like when an Olympian helps an opposing injured Olympian cross the finish line or when Union and Confederate soldiers met at midnight to trade goods and tell stories. It’s supposed to be a “hey look we can have differences of opinion and express those differences fiercely, but at the end of the day we’re all just co-people.”

But I don’t like it. I hate it. This is just way too much of a high road move from the Dems. Too much “we’re so good that we even want to help out our opponents.” Fuck that. Let your opponents’ offices burn. The media drums up left vs right feelings in America like it’s the tensest they’ve been since 1860. Like whoever wins is going to enslave the other side. That narrative sure loses its legs when one side starts GoFundMe’ing the other.

Of course The Donald is on the case, immediately calling — with no evidence whatsoever — the vandals “animals representing Hillary Clinton.”

Can you feel the hate and the anger in that tweet? That’s what I’m talking about. That’s what we need. That right there is what Makes Elections Great Again. Nice trying playing nice, Dems, but you’re not fooling me nor Mr. Trump. We are woke, as they say.
