Jerry Jones Says Tony Romo Is Going To Start For The Cowboys The Second He's Available To Play Again

Fox News – The Dallas Cowboys are 4-1 with rookie quarterback Dak Prescott, who has yet to throw an interception, under center. But it looks like Tony Romo’s rehab is progressing well, and there’s a question as to who will be the Cowboys starting quarterback moving forward.

Jerry Jones made it perfectly clear whom he would start.

“Tony is our No. 1 quarterback. We’re going to have the luxury of being able to, I think, see them both,” Jones said Sunday, via the team’s website. “I don’t want to presume that Dak is going to be necessarily healthy, I don’t want to presume anything like that. But I welcome the opportunity of having Dak playing at this level and Tony back in excellent health. It’s going to be really special for the Cowboys.”

Jones also said that Romo will have an MRI on Monday and expects to hear some good news.

It’s always nice to see your team pick up a surprising win against a tough opponent from the other conference and immediately see the blabby stripper-loving owner stir up issues afterwards. And overall I don’t even know how you handle this situation if you’re the Cowboys. Dak Prescott has been mostly good, even if it’s because the offensive line is giving him as much time as a flag football team counting off Mississippis, and things are looking rosy. Fans of the team and maybe some people in the organization may be as ready as ever to move on. But Tony Romo is the face of the franchise and would cause a gigantic cap hit if you cut him any time soon. So I guess you have to trot him out there hoping he improves the passing offense until he inevitably shatters in half sometime shortly thereafter. With his years of vaguely competent (usually) service, you probably owe Tony Romo one more shot to grab at that brass ring. Nothing short of him demanding to stay off the field for the team’s sake would bail them out of the situation. Trot that ruptured spleen, strained rib, broken collar bone’d ass back out there and let’s see how it goes.

For what it’s worth, even though I think you’ve got to give Romo one more shot I’m going to miss seeing plays like this one or that big Burfict hit without worrying our quarterback is going to be carted off with a Wile E Coyote accordion body:
