Of Course Larry Brown Is Reportedly In Talks To Become Head Coach At East Hampton High School
NY Daily News- Larry Brown may soon have a better coaching gig than Jeff Hornacek. Since resigning from his post as the head coach of SMU’s basketball in July, Brown, 76, has been living in East Hampton, where he is in talks to take to reigns of a high school boys hoops program, according to the East Hampton Star.
After “laughing” about a potential salary to the East Hampton High School athletic director Joseph Vasile-Cozzo over the phone, earlier in the week, the former Knicks coach has agreed to meet in person to talk more about the position. “They told me I can still speak and go to colleges, but I don’t want to cheat the kids. I’m going to do it, I’ll do it 100 percent,” Brown told the Kansas City Star last week.
God I love Larry Brown. The only thing he loves more than coaching hoops is being unhappy at a job and going to a new team. He is truly the common man of coaching. There are millions, maybe billions of people that hate their jobs and dream of how much better their new job will be. You are excited during the whole process of getting a new job, from submitting your application all the way through your first day at work. And then once you step foot into your new office, you realize it’s basically all the same shit as all the other jobs you hated. Larry Brown’s career is the most boring Choose Your Own Adventure book ever. Especially when he coached the Knicks and worked for James Dolan. Biggest layup for a one year divorce of all-time.
The fact Larry is going all the way back to high school is great too. He probably thinks that coaching kids will make things easier. But this is exactly what is going to happen:
1. Larry accepts job
2. Larry butts heads with his team’s point guard
3. Larry demands a new point guard
4. Larry becomes unhappy at his job, tries to find a new place to coach for $8,000 a year.
