I Don't Understand What Urlacher Is Doing

In a recent interview with Yahoo.com, Urlacher revealed that quarterback Jay Cutler was the only former Bears teammate not to contact him after his retirement, even though Urlacher was one of Cutler’s staunchest supporters during their time together in Chicago.

“Well, I did not hear from Jay, out of all the guys I played with, but that’s just — maybe we weren’t as close as, like you said, as we could have been,” Urlacher said. “That’s just the way to let you know where you stand with people. But it’s not his job to text me, maybe that’s not his thing. That’s fine. That’s the way it is. I felt like I stood up for him more than anyone else did over the last three or four years in the media. I feel bad for the guy, he takes a lot of grief from the media too.”

Does anyone understand what Urlacher is doing? He’s like the bad breaker upper guy from Seinfeld. Always has to have the last word in. Just going to say mean things and leave a real bad taste in your mouth. I mean look at the things he’s said since he retired. 1) The Bears fucked him (this is probably the truth but why even publicly complain about it?) 2. The Bears took injury dives and had a signal for it (again no reason to even bring this up). and now 3. Cutler didn’t call him after he retired and he’s pissed about it. I just don’t get it. Is it because he’s trying to get ratings for Fox Sports 1? Is that it? I mean yeah, his legacy as one of the greatest Bears of all time is firmly cemented, but why even bring any of this stuff up? It makes no sense to me. He played his entire career in Chicago. Fans absolutely love him. Why risk that to take a few shots at Phil Emery and Jay Cutler? Seems beyond childish if you ask me.
