Craig Sager Knocked His ESPYs Valvano Speech Out Of The Park

The ESPYs get a lot of shit nowadays, maybe always though I don’t really remember, because we like hating everything. Some of it is deserved. I’ll admit that a lot of the show is three hours of boredom and when it’s not boring it’s everyone blowing themselves. To be fair, that’s just what an awards show is. But, the ESPYs deliver you some absolutely killer speeches. Tonight, Sager did just that. Last year it was Devon and Leah Still. Before that, Stuart Scott knocked everyone on their ass. These speeches will always have me sitting through the shows. They’re always the kind that inspire introspection and, even if it’s just for a second, make you think about how you live your own life and treat those around you. I’m the most cynical son of a bitch on earth but even I appreciate that every now and again. Incredible job from Sager. “I will continue to suck the marrow out of life, as life sucks the marrow out of me.”

Again, the ESPYs catch their share of flack but getting these stories, and Sager’s words, the largest platform possible makes it all worth it if you ask me.
