I Have To Imagine This Hockey Back Flip Is Against The Rules Somehow

Here’s the thing. I’m all for crazy highlights. I’m all for exciting plays that take your breath away. I think that creativity is one of the most underrated assets a hockey player can have. It’s the reason why I think the Islanders management is so fucking stupid because they won’t bring up Josh Jo-Sang. With that being said, this move just can’t be legal.

I mean, for starters, he definitely enters the zone before the puck. I’m sure of it. It’s a little difficult to tell with this angle but give us the blueline camera and you’ll see. Little fun fact that we learned in the NHL this year with the new Coach’s Challenge is that literally every single play ever is actually offside. But if you put a gun up to my head and ask which play was more offside–this one or the Flying V–well then I’d have to go with the backflip.

Secondly, I don’t know where the rules stand on 82 skating down the whole length ice with two sticks in his hand. I could be wrong, as that as the case for the majority of the times, but I’m pretty sure that’s not a legal move. Third of all, well that’s just some piss poor work by the defenseman here. Good call not picking up the puck carrier since you always leave the shooter for the goalie to handle. But to just trail off to the back pipe while disregarding not 1, not 2, but THREE trailers? Well that just leads me to believe the goalie fucked his girlfriend and now he’s hanging him out to dry. So yeah, really cool party trick here. But it was offside, 82 was breaking some sort of rule, and the other team was dealing with a plethora of locker room issues.

P.S. – the backflip is neat and everything but it still doesn’t mean anything if your Corsi is still trash, bro.
