Poor Max Kellerman Will Reportedly Become The New Co-Host Of First Take
Awful Announcing- First Take has reportedly landed a new co-host and the news comes from an unlikely source. Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd was doing a Periscope broadcast on Monday, where he started to talk about SportsNation, which he co-hosted from 2009-2012. Cowherd nonchalantly said SportsNations Max Kellerman will replace Skip Bayless on First Take and that the deal was pretty much completed. “Thoughts on SportsNation. Michelle Beadle’s a friend, Max Kellerman is leaving that show, he’s going to be on First Take.” “It’s a done deal,” Cowherd told someone off-camera, “well pretty much, yeah.” Cowherd said the change was going to upset Beadle and that she was “pissed off.” “Beadle likes Kellerman, that’s not going to play well for Beadle, she’ll be upset. “ Cowherd also claims that Kellerman and ESPN were $100,000 apart in negotiations for the deal.
Oh Christ. I don’t know how most people feel about him, but I’ve been a big Kellerman fan for years. I thought he was great on Around The Horn when it first launched and his brief stint on ESPN New York Radio was original and underrated. Anyone that could make me not want to throw my TV out the window as Jay Mariotti and Bill Plaschke talked should have a case full of Emmys. And from what I’ve seen, he has been just fine on SportsNation. But putting a guy with Max’s talent in the ring as Stephen A. Smith’s sparring partner for shitty hot takes just seems like a waste. Sure Max will probably get a boatload of money to take the opposite stance of Stephen A to stir up some outrage. So I’m happy Kellerman’s about to get P-A-I-D. But that money is the epitome of blood money. To face off against a guy that thinks he could have won the OJ trial despite never being a lawyer AND said he has never lost an argument in his entire life will likely ruin any sane man. Max in case you need a reminder, your new co-host says shit like this on TV to a basketball player because he once rebunked Stephen A’s #sources.
That being said, I cannot WAIT for the first time Stephen A. tries to talk down to Max about boxing. Oh wait, I forgot if Stephen A. loses an argument he considers it a win because he learned something new. My bad. Best of luck on all the upcoming L’s, Max.
