WOJ BOMB: Knicks Will Reportedly Land Derrick Rose In A Trade For Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant, And Jose Calderon
The Vertical The New York Knicks are acquiring Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose in a five-player trade, league sources told The Vertical. The Bulls are also sending forward Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick to New York for center Robin Lopez and guards Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant, sources said.

Holy shit, what the hell just happened? I mean I blogged about how the Knicks were linked to Derrick Rose last week and thought talks may continue until free agents started signing. But the Zen Master does not fuck around. As a blogger, I hate to see RoLo’s weird ass go. And as a fan of young players, I REALLY hate to see Jerian Grant go. But he just never seemed all the wanted for whatever reason (even though it was still a steal trading Tim Hardaway Jr. for him). And the Bulls could have had Calderon for free. I guess the Knicks really believe in Tony Wroten. (UPDATE: Nope, they just waived him).
To be honest, this Woj Bomb completely blindsided me. But the Knicks have acquired a former MVP who also rose from the concrete. Sure he may be the actual face of injuries for the NBA. But the last time the Knicks traded for a player with health concerns from the Bulls, everything turned out fine.

Now that RoLo is gone, I imagine the Knicks will go after a replacement center. What can possibly go wrong?

At least we have PJ Rose coming back in the trade. I probably won’t see Sonya Curry for months now that the Finals are done, Annie Apple murdered me on Twitter, and Mama Conforto’s son could be sent to the minors any day now. So I needed a new fake family member on one of my teams, especially since the entire Porzingis family is blatantly ignoring me. Hey PJ, how do you think your dad will fare with on one of the most snake bit franchises in the NBA?
But seriously, at least we can get excited at the thought of Derrick Rose. Sure it’s not like getting excited about LeBron coming here before The Decision. It’s actually verrrrrry different. But again, beggars can’t be choosers. Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and a few decent free agents (Pau, Joakim, Anyone But Dwight Howard)? We actually may resemble a team by November. All I ask is that each and everyone of you start praying to whatever God you believe in that Derrick’s knees will hold up. We have his Bird rights too, so if he impresses, he could be here for as long as said knees actually hold up. And if he doesn’t, we clear a ton of cap room for Russell Westbrook to sign here since nothing ever goes wrong when Knicks fans get delusional about a player signing with their team. I guess it’s time to ask Big Cat for his D-Rose Spin Zone advice.
