Senators Prospect Gets Arrested And Tazed At Disney World While Trying To Steal Bowling Pins

(Source) Darren Kramer, a winger in the Ottawa Senators organization who currently plays for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, was arrested at approximately 1:16 a.m. Tuesday after allegedly fighting a police officer at Disney World and getting tased. According to police, Kramer scuffled with the officer so that his friend could make off with some bowling pins he had stolen from a restaurant. The officer stopped Kramer and attempted to handcuff him, at which point Kramer allegedly resisted. From the report: Kramer then violently pulled away from me, as I was maintaining control of the handcuff and his free left arm. Kramer pulled me off my feet and began to run. I was able to maintain control of the handcuff and pull him toward me. Kramer was then able to turn completely toward me and break the control I had of his handcuff. I then observed Kramer lower his right shoulder and raise his left arm as if he was preparing to strike me with a punch. Due to our close proximity I then reached out to Kramer and grabbed his shirt and attempted to pull him off balance. Kramer stepped forward and lowered his head, hitting me in the chest. This caused both of us to fall to the ground where Kramer ended up falling onto me. Kramer was able to stand up which allowed me to get to my feet and again grab his shirt. During this time I was ordering him verbally to stop and to lie on the ground. Kramer continued to fight me and again pulled backward. He was able to break the hold and spin to his right. I then observed Kramer turn his entire body to me and again raise his arm as if to strike me. I drew my department issued ECD Taser and yelled that I would Taze him. Kramer continued to come at me and I deployed the ECD, striking him in the upper right arm.

I hate to be one of those “a guy got in trouble with the law once so we need him off our team” guys, but I think the Senators/Manitoba Moose need to part ways with Darren Kramer immediately, right? Because Kramer’s an enforcer. He doesn’t stack goals, he stacks penalty minutes and bodies. If you’re hoping to make a league that’s already quickly moving on from enforcers, you better at least be able to have your boy’s back while he tries to make off with a few bowling pins at Disney World. How’s coach, or the team, supposed to have any confidence in you going out there and administering some frontier justice when you’re out here getting pulled off balance, on dry land, by Officer Mickey in front of the Raglan Road Pub? Can’t have it. This might be the first time being a bad friend while drunk has ended a hockey career, but I think it’s gotta happen.
