Wake Up With Justin Upton Hitting A Home Run To Tie It, And A Home Run To Win It

It’s about damn time an Upton had a positive impact on the Detroit Tigers franchise. Justin Upton signed with the Tigers as a free agent this past offseason, and has been a major disappointment thus far. Out of 63 qualified outfielders in the MLB, Upton came into Monday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners 54th in batting average (.243) and 60th in OPS (.656). Translation, he’s been one of the worst outfielders in the game this year. But when the Tigers really needed it (Did they really need it? They’re .500 on June 21. I’m gonna say no.), Upton came through in the clutch, hitting a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to tie it, and a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 12th to win it. The Mariners have been scuffling BIG time lately. They’ve lost three in a row, and 12 of their last 17 games. They went from TIED for first place on June 2, to now 9.5 games back entering play today. Hoooooly SHIT.

Anyway, somebody tell Jose Iglesias that it wasn’t Anibal Sanchez who hit the walk-off home run.
