Section 10 Podcast: Part 1 Of Our Conversation With Curt Schilling

Whether you love him or you hate him, you can’t deny that Curt Schilling had one of the greatest impacts on the history of the Boston Red Sox, ever. He invited us to his home and let us ask anything we wanted, so we went back to day one and got the story of the day he was drafted, his early days with the Baltimore Orioles (with some great Cal Ripken Jr. drinking stories), why he stopped using an agent as a player and started negotiating his own contracts, the story of how he ended up in Boston, how he almost became a Yankee prior to the 2004 season, why he still lives in the Boston area, and a great Joe West story mixed in there. I also make an attempt to convince him that he’s a Hall of Famer, and Shonda Schilling makes a cameo appearance to make fun of me for not knowing how to use their toilet. In my defense, it’s a weird toilet. It really is. All that, and much more in just this episode alone. We’ll be launching part two of our conversation with Big Schill tomorrow.

PS – We made a No Politics rule, which he broke in less than 90 seconds, but then he stuck to it the rest of the way. I didn’t think he had it in ‘em, but miracles happen, and his performance in Game 6 of the 2004 American League Championship Series is proof of that.
