Rueben Randle Understated Things When He Called His Time With The Giants "An Unfortunate Situation"
PFT- Eagles wide receiver Rueben Randle’s first offseason with the Eagles hit a bump when he learned that he needed to have his gallbladder removed. It’s been a little more than two weeks since Randle had that operation and he received clearance for limited work at minicamp this week. He said he expects to be a full participant come training camp, where he’ll bid for snaps as an outside receiver with coach Doug Pederson saying that Randle has “really made an impact” when he’s been able to work this spring.
Randle didn’t have the desired impact during his years with the Giants, which were marked by benchings for late arrivals to meetings and miscommunications with Eli Manning that led to turnovers. Randle insists he “wasn’t really trying to do anything” to anger the Giants while describing himself as “excited to be a part of this” Eagles team. “Unfortunate situation. Things happen, you’ve got to move on,” Randle said, via Philly.com. “Miscommunication … They didn’t like my demeanor and some things … I was just judged wrong, read wrong. I gotta do better by that, learn from my mistakes … try to move forward here.”
Hey Roob, your time with the Giants wasn’t an unfortunate situation. Ray Handley being picked as Bill Parcells was an unfortunate situation. The Dave Brown Years were an unfortunate situation. Your nickname with the Giants should have been The Unfortunate Situation. Even when he is no longer on the Giants, Rueben Randle still has the ability to piss off Big Blue’s fans. We waited years for him to live up to the hype of a second round pick, and instead we got a receiver that seemingly could only do damage on an eight-yard curl. Rueben, it wasn’t just your demeanor that we disliked. We disliked that you ALWAYS ran the wrong routes, could never be a consistent factor despite teams game planning how to stop the receiver opposite you, and that you missed practices. We also didn’t like that you were the cause of more Eli Manning faces and interceptions than any other player probably in Giants history. I even thank God that Andre Williams was around to be the target of Giants fans’ scorn the last few years instead of just having one singular focus of hatred in you.
Luckily for us you are the Eagles’ problem now. However, I am sure the Sam Bradford/Chase Daniels/Carson Wentz three-headed monster will still find a way for you to put up 200 yards and three touchdowns in the two games against the Giants next year just because that’s the type of player you were. A pain in the goddamn ass to the end through and through.
On the bright side, at least there is one less Urkel on the Giants to make their wins low.
